Sand Sculpture Festival at Peter and Paul Fortress

Peter and Paul Fortress will turn into "Treasure Island", where ships and majestic sand castles, from top to bottom, will be filled with priceless treasures from around the world, and will be basking in the sun on the beach of the Peter and Paul Fortress. 

Summer will give residents and visitors of our city amazing sight - a traditional festival of sand sculptures: dozens of teams from around the world will gather on the beach of the Peter and Paul Fortress to create something unimaginable. When looking at the objects, made by masters, spectators will find it hard to believe that all this beauty is really made of sand. 

During the 12 years of the event, it has gained a great reputation as one of the most famous and most impressive festivals in the world. Its theme changes annually. For example, last year the beach turned into a real island of fairy tales, where citizens and visitors could get acquainted with the characters of magic works. 

This year the festival will have the theme of "Treasure Island". However, pirates, rum bottles, hefty chests of gold, guests will not see. We are talking about the most important riches: rare species of animals, invaluable resources and treasures, scattered in different parts of our planet. Incidentally, the festival will be the performance of even the sandy Gulf symbol - Baltic ringed seal. 

The event will show spectators how difficult and amazing the building of these sand structures are, and these days everyone will be able to visit educational workshops.
